I am a lifetime model maker, project builder, customizer and tinkerer with a wide area of interests and abilities that have led me to have my own full-time shop and studio. In the process of receiving my technical degree in CNC Machining, the obvious advantages of such in designing and manufacturing unique & artistic products really let me find a great creative outlet. Now, I have a real dream job: Shop/studio right on the property. Do the products I want. Answer to no one. Total creative and business freedom.
I tend to address mostly Vintage and Scale items. They tend to become Collector's Items in no time, and are very hard to aquire after the batch is done. I love what I do and I hope it shows!
My incredible girl Judy, a genuine treasure and the love of my life, assists our endeavour, as well as Shelby, a cat who does what he can by biting my leg while I'm debugging machine code. But as Judy works full-time at another business, products take a while because I must do everything- Idea, design, CAD, toolpathing, prototyping, marketing, packing, shipping, etc. Only things like some plating or anodizing are farmed out to people who meet my exacting specifications. Thus, it takes a lot of skilled work and time- If quality was easy it'd be more common. Small-batch one-time machining is expensive, so to make our products as affordable as possible, we cut out dealer and distributor markups, fancy packaging you'll just toss, standard advertising, and other things that do not add value.
Design influences are many- Bikes, cars, Art Deco, sculpture, vintage Sci-Fi, Golden Age aircraft, Steampunk, blah blah. The lines of a vintage Buck Rogers-era rocket or a 1930's Triumph Speed Twin, Bingo. I just like pretty things, and making some is fulfilling. Thanks for taking an interest in us and our products, Chris & Judy, REC
